About this application
Garden Live Guide is a project operated by Sand Dollar Digital Design, Inc., through Bowtie Life, and is a gardening-community project that displays information about YouTube gardening livestreams, upcoming broadcasts, and recent replays. It also provides an optional Google authorization process for the operator of a YouTube channel to manage the description of a designated video.
Information we access and use
Garden Live Guide uses YouTube API Services to obtain information about gardening channels and videos, such as channel names, video titles, thumbnails, video IDs, scheduled times, live status, and links. This information may be stored in the application's database to assemble and refresh the guide.
When an authorized channel operator signs in with Google, the application receives OAuth access and refresh tokens and uses YouTube API permissions to identify the authorized channel, read video details, and update the description of a specifically configured video. The permission presented by Google may be broader than the actions Garden Live Guide currently performs. The application does not require ordinary viewers to sign in with Google.
How information is stored
OAuth tokens are stored in a private configuration directory on the application's hosting account, outside the public web directory. Video and channel metadata are stored in the application's database. Server and application logs may record operational information, including timestamps and errors. The project does not intentionally publish OAuth tokens.
Sharing and third parties
Garden Live Guide uses Google's and YouTube's services to obtain and manage YouTube information. Links to YouTube videos lead to YouTube, which handles information according to its own policies. We do not sell Google account data or OAuth tokens. Hosting providers may process information as needed to operate the application.
Use of YouTube features is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Retention and removal
Public video and channel information may be refreshed, replaced, or removed as the guide is maintained. Authorized access tokens are retained while the channel connection is in use, unless they expire, are revoked, or are deleted by the operator. An authorized user may revoke access at any time through Google Account third-party connections. Revoking access prevents future authorized operations but may not immediately remove previously stored metadata or server logs.
To request deletion of stored authorization data or other information associated with your account, use the Sand Dollar Digital Design contact form. We will review and handle requests applicable to data under our control.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Garden Live Guide develops. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
