Q: Do all these companies that promise you that they can get you to the top of the search engines really work?
A: I have sent out a bit of information about how to get your
site on the tops of the search engines, but it is an
ongoing process. Right now there is a great article about this.
It is titled:
Search Engine Marketing Ethics: Don't believe the hype.
You can find a link to it right now at:
These articles don't stay for long, but it should be there
for a couple weeks.
We typically discourage use of these companies that say
they will get you to the top of search engines. Getting
there is easy, staying there is an ongoing task. Some will
simply purchase Sponsored listings and take a percentage of
your money, up to half. You can set up sponsored listings
yourself for free, or we can do it for you for about $60-90
one time setup to help you out.
Recently, someone told me they were offered a great deal at
$700+ setup and $250 a month. Folks, that is TOOOO much.
What you will get for that, you can do yourself for a
fraction of that.
Now, I am not trying to tell you that that we will not
allow you to do this, just be warned. You must monitor
your placement. Make sure you ARE staying at the top of
the list. I recognize that there are legitimate promotion
companies out there. Just make sure you know how to check
up on their work.
